Mental Health 101

January 12 at 12:30 pm

Mental health conditions are common, with 20% of individuals experiencing a mental illness in any given year. Largely because of stigma associated with mental health, people often do not seek help nor know how to respond to a mental health crisis. Mental Health 101 seeks to increase mental health awareness and education through a short one-hour presentation offered to community members and organizations.

Parables Retreat

February 15, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm

Jesus often taught in parables, but what do these complicated stories mean? You’re invited to a special day retreat focused on reading and understanding Jesus’ parables. Gerry Hendershot and Marianne Okal will lead a one-day workshop based on Amy-Jill Levine’s book, Short Stories by Jesus. Together, we’ll dive in to some of those stories and learn more about their surprising backgrounds and context. We’ll gather at The Jefferson residential community in Arlington, Virginia.
